Digital Yacht Ikonvert - DIY NMEA 2000/0183 USB Gateway Converter
The Digital Yacht Ikonvert is an intelligent and flexible gateway converter designed to allow software applications to read and write NMEA2000 data. It offers two modes of operation - RAW binary PGN data for advanced analysis and control, or conversion to the more widely supported NMEA0183 data format.
With the iKonvert, marine navigation applications running on PC, MAC, and LINUX computers can easily access NMEA0183 data from an NMEA2000 network. By simply adjusting the DIP switches inside the iKonvert, users can select the desired data mode and baud rate for seamless integration with their marine application.
For developers and advanced users, the iKonvert can be set to "RAW Mode," allowing easy reading and writing of data using a simple serial data format available on the iKonvert Github site. No special libraries or proprietary code are required for integration, making it a popular choice among developers. It is already compatible with CanBoat and the Signal K Node Server.
The iKonvert Gateway features a compact and easy-to-mount housing, complete with an integral USB cable and a standard NMEA2000 Micro drop cable. It draws power from the NMEA2000 network and provides full galvanic isolation between the USB interface and NMEA2000 network. The iKonvert operates at a baud rate of 230KB in RAW mode and 4.8KB, 38.4KB, or 115KB in NMEA0183 conversion modes.
The USB interface of the iKonvert is equipped with an FTDI chip, ensuring reliable and compatible USB drivers for various operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. Additionally, an ISO version of the iKonvert will soon be released, allowing direct connection between NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 systems.
