The Simrad RS40-B includes a Class B AIS transceiver, allowing you to receive AIS targets and transmit your boat's position to nearby AIS-equipped vessels. This feature ensures that your boat can be easily spotted by other mariners, regardless of the conditions, day or night. The built-in AIS receiver constantly monitors the position of other AIS-equipped vessels, providing you with the necessary information to proactively avoid collisions in crowded harbours and waterways. AIS information can be viewed on the radio's built-in screen or overlaid on your chart or radar screen through a compatible multifunction display.

The removable fist mic of the RS40-B can be connected to the front or rear of the radio, providing flexibility in mounting options. Optional extension cables enable the mic and radio to be mounted separately, eliminating cable clutter. For example, you can mount the RS40-B overhead without any hanging cables, while connecting the mic to an extension socket on the dash below.

Enhance the functionality of the RS40-B by adding an optional HS40 wireless handset. Each handset duplicates the display and controls of your radio, allowing for remote access to all key functions. You can connect up to two handsets to a single RS40-B, and with multiple handsets connected, your radio can also serve as an on-board intercom.
